Lore

The Impundulu, often called the Lightning Bird, is a supernatural creature from South African folklore associated with storms, witchcraft, and destruction. Said to appear as a massive black-and-white bird surrounded by thunder and lightning, the Impundulu could summon violent storms and strike down victims from the sky. Some legends claimed it served powerful witches as a familiar spirit, feeding upon blood and carrying messages through the night. During fierce thunderstorms, many believed the creature was circling high above the clouds.
